Vietnam natural gas output +20.7% in Jan-Jul

Vietnam pumped 5.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the first seven months of this year, up 20.7% from a year earlier, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The national natural gas output was 800 million cubic meters in July, according to the ministry.

The state-owned Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) targets to produce 8.58 billion cubic meters of natural gas this year, and expects to tap 51.6 billion cubic meters through 2015.

Between 2006 and 2010, PetroVietnam supplies a combined 35 billion cubic meters of dry natural gas as fuel for production of 40% of the national power output, of between 35% and 40% of the country’s urea demand and 70% of the national liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) need.
