Vietnam national flag carrier to adjust airfare from May 16

The national flag carrier with 70 percent market share, Vietnam Airline, has recently announced to adjust up the airfare in domestic flights according to the new ceiling airfare benchmark from next week.
Accordingly, from May 16, the new ticket prices will be applied through its network of domestic flights. The ticket prices are built on the basis of the airfare frame including six flying route distance approved by the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

The carrier said its new price frame has been approved by aviation authorities already. Basing on this cap framework, the carrier will build a series of different flexible ticket prices consistent with the travelling schedule of passengers.

Vietnam Airlines has announced its new ticket price policy to resellers and at the same time updated the details on its system to be able to officially apply from May 16.

Earlier, two domestic airlines namely Jetstar Pacific and Air Mekong also announced their plans to adjust the plane ticket price in accordance with the ceiling price approved by MoF.

Accordingly, the lowest price offered by Jetstar Pacific for flights with highest frequency such as Hanoi-HCM City will be 850,000 dong and the highest price will be approximately 2.45 million dong per one-way ticket. The airfare also increased slightly for other flying routes. However, passengers booking tickets soon can enjoy cheap prices or promotion of about 650,000 dong per single ticket.

Last weekend, the private airline, Air Mekong, also started updating the new ticket prices on its sales system. Currently, Air Mekong is the only carrier to launch the Hanoi-Phu Quoc direct flight. This is a route with the farthest distance so the ceiling price is more than 2.7 million dong for one-way flight.

This carrier is offering promotion policies for flights during May 12 and 13 and the return flights on May 14 and 15 whereby the airfare will reduce by 40 percent. Return ticket to apply for this flight will be 3.4 million dong. – Vietbiz24
