Vietnam Moves to Export More Handicrafts to EU
More than 50 Vietnamese handicrafts producers discussed ways at a workshop in southern Binh Duong province Nov. 26 to ship more products to the European Union.
The workshop, held by the Vietnam Handicraft Association (Vietcraft), the Binh Duong Industry-Trade Service and the Swiss Trade Promotion Organization (Sippo), focused on dealing difficulties the firms may face to ship handicrafts to the EU.
The workshop participants agreed that currently more than 90% of handicrafts are still exported via the intermediaries.
Vietnam expected to export US$158 million worth of handicrafts in 2009 and Japan, the U.S., EU, South Korea and Taiwan are major importers.
