Vietnam motorbikes import hit all-time high at $27.78 million worth of 16,599 units in the first month of this year, surging 106% for quantity and 139.8% for value from 2010, the online newspaper SGGP reported on February 23, citing the Vietnam Customs.
Vietnam mainly imported from Italia (9,857 units), Thailand (4,950 units) and China (1,660).
Vietnam imported $103 million worth of 6,117 complete built unit (CBU) automobiles in January, sharply rising 88% on-year for value and 80% for quantity, citing the Vietnam Customs source. Meanwhile, the imported automobile kit dropped by 14% on month and 6% on year to $165 million.
The surge was attributed to the fact that car and motorbike importers boosted importing car to avoid the recent dong devaluation of 9.3% despite still stable domestic
