Vietnam Mobile Web Browsing Users Grow 846.9% in 2009: Opera Software
The growth rate of users of Opera Mini, the Internet browser for mobile phone, in Vietnam hit 846.9% during 2009, the highest in Southeast Asia, Opera Software said.
Vietnam ranks second behind Indonesia for the number of users, Opera Software said in its report on mobile web, which focuses on the Southeast Asia and Vietnam emerges emergence, with impressive growth.
Vietnam also tops the region for the growth of page views by Opera Mini.
On a world scale, Vietnam ranks the 8th in the top ten countries using Opera Mini, including Russia, India, Ukraine, China, South Africa, the U.S., Vietnam, Nigeria and the U.K.
By December 2009, there were more than 46.3 million Opera Mini users in the world, up 159% on year.
Google is still the most viewed site by Opera Mini in Vietnam and most of Southeast Asian countries. Indonesia is the only exception, where Google ranked the sixth while Yahoo! took second place.
Among social networks, Facebook was the most favorite site globally. In Vietnam, the number of people using Opera Mini to access Facebook increased 21 fold in 2009, compared to 6 times in the world.
Nokia is the most popular equipment using Opera Mini for web browsing in the Southeast Asia. In Vietnam, the top ten mobile phones using Opera Mini are all Nokia models. (www.home.vnn.vn, Vietnamnet)
