Vietnam Mekong Delta region exports to reach US$6.2B this year

Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region expects to earn US$6.2 billion from exporting goods with its staples of rice, seafood and fruits this year.

The figure was released at a two-day conference on Mekong Delta investment and development concluded in the southern city of Can Tho on Sept 6 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Currently, the region’s rice export volume and value accounts for 90% and 60% of Vietnam’s sum, respectively.

Its seafood and fruits output represents 50% and 70% of the country’s total in turn.

The EU, Northern America and Africa are the region’s main export markets.
