Vietnam machinery, equipment imports +14.9% in Jan-August
Vietnam imported US$8.54 billion worth of machinery and equipment in the first eight months of this year, rising 14.9% from a year earlier.
The figure accounted for 16.23% of the country’s total import value during the period, the General Statistic Office said.
The Southeast Asian nation spent US$1.15 billion on importing these products in August, the office said without giving comparative figure.
The rising imports of machinery and equipment were partly blamed for Vietnam’s widening trade gap to US$8.16 billion between January and August. (GSO)
