Vietnam is estimated to have spent US$186 million on importing 246,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) between January and May, up 15.8% from a year earlier in value but down 25.6% in volume, according to General Statistics Office (GSO).
Of the figures, the country imported 60,000 metric tons of LPG worth US$46 million in May, rising 81.8% in volume and 84% in value from April, the GSO said.
The nation, meanwhile, is estimated to buy US$301 million worth of oil products between January and May, up 58.5% on-year, the office said.
Vietnam has reduced imports of LPG since the country’s first oil refinery Dung Quat is running at full capacity and has supplied over 2.8 million tons of products to the domestic market. (GSO)
