Vietnam exported $3.48 billion worth of goods to Japan in H1, soaring 29.97% and imported $4.08 billion, up 31.9%, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

The Southeast Asian nation’s main imports were machinery, equipment and spare parts worth $1.18 billion, up 13.8% on-year, steel and iron worth $521.7 million, up 75.8% and plastic products worth $184.75 million, up 46.5%.

Vietnam’s main exports were apparel with $481.29 million, up 13.45% on-year, electric wires and cables with $425.74 million, up 89.88%, machinery, equipment and spare parts with $399.45 million, up 53.77%.

The two-way trade fell 15.63% to $13.5 billion in 2009, including Vietnam’s trade deficit of $1.1 billion. – VCCI
