Vietnam Int’l Furniture and Home Accessories Fair opens

The Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair (VIFA) 2011 opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City on March 11.

The event is organised by the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCM City in cooperation with HAWA Corporation.

The fair drew the participation of 150 domestic and foreign businesses with 650 stalls. On display are all kinds of furniture, covering a wide range from living room, bedroom, dining room and bathroom furniture to outdoor, office furniture and other related products, interior furnishings and accessories, and woodworking hardware.

In particular, over 1,000 guests from 76 countries in the world registered to take part in the fair and buy goods.

In 2010, Vietnam’s wood export value gained US$3.44 billion, up 32.3 percent compared to same period in 2009. By the end of this year, the country’s wood export turnover is expected to hit US$4.2 billion, up 22 percent over 2010. Vietnam’s wood products are now present in 120 countries and territories and the country is becoming one of leading wood exporters in the world.
