Vietnam, India Deepen Garment, Textile, Cotton Ties

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council of India (TEXPROCIL) held an exchange meeting for cotton, garment and textile companies of the two countries in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, Ms Nguyen Hong Ha, Deputy Director of VCCI HCM City Branch, said Vietnam is one of the largest textile exporters in the world, with some 2,000 companies and two million workers. The garment and textile industry of Vietnam can create 100,000 jobs a year, and to complete the target of earning US$10.5 billion from apparel and textile exports in 2010, Vietnam needs to import a large volume of foreign materials, especially cotton.

Meanwhile, Mr V.S. Valayuthum, Chairman of Texprocil, confirmed that, India can supply enough of raw textile and apparel materials at competitive prices for Vietnam. Besides, the Indian side is also committed to providing technical supports for Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises.

Previously, on June 29 at Fortuna Hotel, Hanoi, the Indian business delegation also met with garment and textile companies in Hanoi.
