Vietnam H1 State Budget Deficit Equals to 3.58% of GDP: Ministry

Vietnam’s state budget deficit expanded to VND30.65 trillion in the first half of this year, equal to 3.58% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), compared to the full-year estimate of 6.2%, the Ministry of Finance said on July 23.

The communist-run country had total revenues and grants of VND242.43 trillion in the period, including VND223.62 trillion worth of taxes and fees, while its expenditures were VND250.468 trillion.

The National Assembly, the country’s top legislative body, has approved a budget deficit of VND119.7 trillion for this year.

At the opening ceremony of the 7th National Assembly working session in Hanoi May 20, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung asked for effective state budget spending to gradually narrow budget gap. – VCCI
