Vietnam Firm to Start Building VND4.55T Int’l Port End-Jun

Sao Bien International Port Joint Stock Company is seeking contractors for a VND4.55 trillion (US$239.46 million) international port whose construction is slated for the end of June.

The Sao Bien International Port will cover 68 ha at the My Xuan-Thi Vai port complex in Tan Thanh district in the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau.

The port will include a wharf designed to welcome 30,000 DWT ships, a 214,550-s.q.m container depot and a 240,046-s.q.m general depot.

Once operational in the fourth quarter of 2011, the port can handle one million TEU of cargo and half a million tons of general cargo.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau now has two international seaports namely Tan Cang-Cai Mep and SP-PSA.
