Vietnam fights back over environmental claims

Vietnamese seafood exporters have lambasted WWF after the environmental campaign group advised European consumers not to buy most Vietnamese catfish because of concerns about environmental degradation and food safety.

Nguyen Huu Dung, vice-president of the Vietnam association of seafood exporters and producers, on Tuesday said WWF’s assessment had been conducted “improperly” and “lacked a scientific basis”. His comments were echoed by several Vietnamese officials in state media reports. – FT
