Vietnam exports $450Mln gold and gemstone in September, down 42% on month

Vietnam’s export turnover of gemstone and precious metals reached $450 million in September, down 41.86% from August, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said.

Vietnam’s export turnover of gemstone and precious metals reached $450 million in September, down 41.86% from August, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said.

However, in the first nine months of the year, total export turnover of gemstone and precious metals (mainly gold) hit $2.781 trillion, up 4.5% on year and accounting for 5.4% of total export turnover.

Since July, local gold prices have been roughly VND250,000/tael-500,000/tael lower than those in global market, which stimulated the gold export efforts.

Earlier, total export turnover of gemstone and precious metals (mainly gold) amounted nearly $6million in the first half of August, it rose $768 million to $774 by 31 of August, said Department of Vietnam Customs.

Importers of Vietnam’s gemstone and precious metals include Swiss ($647.78 million), US ($4.64 million), France ($3.85 million), Japan ($1.87 million), Australia ($1.22 million), HongKong($1.11 million) and others. – Stoxplus.com
