Vietnam enjoys strong growth in sales of technical consumer goods

The third quarter of 2010 generally saw improved sales performances in technical consumer goods in Asian markets, according to the latest survey conducted by the market research company of GfK Asia. Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia were the three top performing countries in terms of consumption of technical goods with growth of 24, 17 and 16 percent respectively.

The market research company GfK Asia has specified in providing reliable retail and technology market data in Asian region, including technical consumer equipment, optics equipment, large domestic appliances, small domestic appliances, telecommunication equipment, and other office machines.

Vietnamese market continued going strong in the third quarter of 2010, with a growth of 24 percent against the same quarter last year. Once again, the small domestic appliance category (such as rice cooker, iron, vacuum cleaner etc) saw the highest growth of 26 percent year-on-year, while the optics equipment (e.g. digital cameras) of 22 percent.

“Although demand for office equipment category saw a slight decline, almost all categories enjoyed double-digit growths, with the telecommunication equipment category seeing the highest growth of 38 percent from the same quarter of 2009″, Stanley Kee, Regional Commercial director of GfK Asia Pte Ltd commented.

Malaysia enjoyed the highest growth in terms of optics equipment category at 26 percent while Indonesia was the only market seeing the strong double-digit growth in most of the categories, apart from telecommunication. – TTXVN
