Vietnam electricity output +14.7% to 60.1b kWh in Jan-Aug

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 60.1 billion kWh of electricity in the first eight months of this year, up 14% on year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said August 25.

The national power firms are estimated to have produced 8.1 billion kWh in August, up 7.7% on year.

Recently, Vietnamese Prime Minister blamed the country’s recent serious power shortages to a large number of sluggish power projects nationwide as a result of capital shortfall, slow site clearance and weak management.

The Southeast Asian country is forecast to face a power shortage of one billion kWh of power this year. – GSO
