Vietnam, Egypt boost cooperation in aquaculture

Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Le Phuong and Egypt’s Chairman of The General Authority for Fish Resources Development (GAFRD) Mohamed Fathy Osman signed a cooperation agreement on fishery and aquaculture in Ho Chi Minh City on May 10.

Under the agreement, Vietnam will arrange short-term training courses for Egypt’s experts and technicians. The two sides will exchange official visits and information concerning technological cooperation.

They will also promote joint investments in the privately-owned aquaculture sector.

Previously, on February 16, 2004, Vietnam and Egypt signed a memorandum of standing about aquaculture resources development. The two sides also had the first meeting in Hanoi on December 9, 2004 and the third meeting is scheduled to take place in Egypt in late 2011.

From May 4-10, 2010, the Egyptian delegation worked with Vietnam’s aquaculture partners and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
