Vietnam earns $3.29b of mobile phone exports in Jan-Aug

In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam exported $3.29 billion of mobile phone and components, a 3-fold increase year-on-year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
In August, the mobile phone and components export earned $710 million, up 59.5 percent from July.

These results were mainly thanks to the stable operation of Samsung Vietnam plant to produce products for export. Vietnam’s main buyers for mobile phone and components included EU ($1.33 billion, accounting for over 40 percent), Russia ($296 million, up three times on year) and India ($231 million, up 90.2 percent on year).

However, the country’s import spending on these items in Jan-August also increased strongly with $1.41 billion, up 63.4 percent year-on-year. Vietnam’s imported products are mainly from China ($911 million) and Korea ($447 million).
