Vietnam disbursed VND77.45 trillion (US$4.19 billion) for infrastructure projects in the first ten month of this year, down 36.2% from a year earlier and fulfilling 76.4% of the full-year target.
This has been the highest disbursement level so far, the government said on its website, citing figures of the Ministry of Finance.
The ministry forecasts that Vietnam’s infrastructure disbursement to reach VND99.802 trillion in 2009, fulfilling 98.4% of the full-year target.
Vietnam has invested US$60 billion into infrastructure development projects since 2001, accounting for 8.4% of the country’s GDP and the rate is expected to make up 11% of the GDP in the 2010-2020 period, analysts said.
The Southeast Asian country is in dire need of capital for developing infrastructure projects nationwide. It planned to raise VND200 trillion from bond sales this year but raised only VND20 trillion between January and October. (chinhphu.vn)
