Vietnam could be a giant for freight traffic: IATA

Vietnam is poised to become the third fastest-growing market for international air passengers and freight by 2014, according to the International Air Transport Association on Friday.

“But it is a future that cannot be taken for granted,” said IATA Director General Giovanni Bisignani.

“Vietnamese aviation must be built and supported by sound policies that take into account that this is a dynamic industry where change is the only constant.”

Vietnam’s economy ranks 58 out of 183 and is currently growing at about 5% a year, according to the International Monetary Fund. By 2014, IATA said it expects that growth to accelerate to 7%, putting it within the top 10 of the world’s fastest-growing economies. – Foxbusiness
