Vietnam clean coal output rises to 25.3M tons in Jan-Jul

Vietnam produced 25.3 million tons of clean coal in the first seven months of this year, up 2.2% from a year earlier, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The national clean coal output was 3.44 million tons in July, down 4.6% on-month and 10.6% on year, according to the ministry.

This year, the state-owned Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), the country’s top miner, targets to produce 47 million to 50 million tons of coal and export 18 million tons of the fossil fuel.

The nation is forecast to have to start importing coal after 2015, although it is still boosting coal exports. (VEN)
