Vietnam cement sales estimated at 36.46M tons in Jan-Sept

Vietnam is estimated to have used 36.46 million tons of ce- ment in the first nine months of this year, meeting 72.9% of its full-year target.

In September, the figure stands at 4.22 million tons, the Ministry of Construction (MoC) said on its website late Wednesday.

The country’s Sept cement production output is estimated at 4.28 million tons, raising its Jan-Sept sum to 37.23 million tons, fulfilling 74.5% of its whole-year target.

Vietnam has imported 1.75 million tons of clinker during the nine-month period, includ- ing 50,000 tons in Sept. Vietnam is forecast to produce between 50 million tons and 51.5 million tons of cement this year. Its cement price is forecast to decrease in remain months.

The MoC predicted Vietnam will face a cement surplus of at least two million tons this year due to the boom of new cement plants nationwide while its cement export plans are facing difficulties.

The ministry plans to submit a new development planning draft for the cement industry until 2015 and with a vision for future developments through 2025 to the Prime Minister in the fourth quarter of this year. – MOC
