Vietnam, Belarus to raise trade to $1B next year
Vietnam and Belarus will join hands closely to raise trade to $1 billion in 2011 as well enhance the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in various fields, said visiting Chairman of the Belarus Parliament’s House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko.
Belarus is willing to provide Vietnam with potassium fertilizer, heavy-duty trucks and tractors and wants to import agricultural goods from the Southeast Asian country, the guest was quoted by the Tuoi Tre newspaper as saying Oct 20.
Speaking at a talk with Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong, Andreichenko affirmed to give favorable conditions for Vietnam to build processing areas of farm produce in the European country.
He proposed the two sides should set up joint ventures in the major aspects of industry, agriculture, trade and education.
The Belarusian legislator started his four-day visit to Vietnam on Oct 19. He also met with President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung late yesterday.
Trade between Vietnam and Belarus rose 18.9% from a year earlier to $42.8 million in the first seven months of this year, including the former’s trade deficit of $13.6 million.
