Vietnam becomes Japan’s third largest outsourcing partner

Vietnam has become Japan’s third largest outsourcing partner, vice president of the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa), Pham Tan Cong, said on November 3.

According to Cong, being established in April, 2002, Vinasa is a social organisation representing for Vietnamese firms operating in the software industry and information technology (IT) services.

From 55 initial members, now it has attracted 198 membership enterprises, increasing nearly four-fold after eight years of operation. Vinasa’s members are the most leading enterprises of the IT sector, accounting for 70 percent revenue and 60 percent human of the whole sector.

In 2009, despite heavy impacts from the world economic recession, Vietnam’s growth of software sector and digital content still gained up to 37.5 percent, of which software growth was 25 percent with $850 million of revenue, and digital content growth at 56 percent with $690 million of revenue, giving a totalled figure of over $1.5 billion. – TBKTVN
