Vietnam auto sales fell 10,424 units or 17% from December 2010 in the first month of 2011, despite increasing 48% on year
Vietnam auto sales fell 10,424 units or 17% from December 2010 in the first month of 2011, despite increasing 48% on year, the online newspaper DVT reported on February 17, citing the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA).
Commercial vehicles selling posted the highest on-month decrease of 34% or 3,581 units, and 4% on year.
Multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) dropped by 7% on month to 3,581 units, while the number of passenger cars declined by 0.1% to 4,069 units.
Toyota Vietnam sales led the market with 3,057 units, up 38% on month, followed by Truong Hai, domestic automaker with 2,264 units, up 175% on month. VinaStar posted a 100% sales increase from December 2010.
In opposite side, Vinacomin – Vinacoal showed the fasted fall of 96% on month.
Sales in the Northern market contributed 50% of total VMAM members’ sales with 5,000 units in January. – Stoxplus.com
