Vietnam attends Thailand Food Conference 2011

Representatives of 20 Asian countries, including Vietnam, and the US, Japan, the European Union, as well as other inter-government organizations have attended the 2011 Thailand Food Conference held in Bangkok by the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Participants at the meeting shared information, knowledge and experiences in dealing with matters relating to the record high prices of food in recent times due to hikes in crude oil prices.

On the sidelines of the conference, Pham Van Du, an official from the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that Vietnam wants countries with modern technology to continue their assistance for research development and rice production.

Meanwhile, other delegates stressed the need to boost the exchange of information on new varieties of rice, climate change, and technical assistance for agrarian development and mechanization.
