Vietnam-ASEAN H1 Trade Rise to US$13.1B: Govt Report

Trade between Vietnam and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) rose to US$13.1 billion in the first half of this year, including the former’s trade gap of US$2.5 billion, the government’s General Statistics Office said on July 1.

Vietnam reaped US$5.3 billion from exports to the ASEAN, up 21% from a year earlier, and imported US$7.8 billion, up 20,4%, the GSO said in a report.

Vietnam’s export staples to the ASEAN are crude oil, rice, seafood, apparel and electronic spare parts and its main imports are machinery, consumer goods and materials.

In early April, the Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast Vietnam would export US$8.88 billion worth of goods to the bloc this year
