Vietnam Airlines gains US maintenance certificate

The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States has awarded a FAR-145 certificate to Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO).

The FAR-145 is an international standard on aircraft maintenance services under US aviation regulations.

Addressing the awarding ceremony in Hanoi on January 21, Pham Ngoc Minh, Vietnam Airlines general director, said VAECO – the sole unit for aircraft maintenance in Vietnam – getting the FAR-15 certificate was a step towards realising the airline’s development strategy, helping to improve aircraft maintenance capacity as well as gradually developing the aircraft component assembly and manufacturing industries.

“This will be also a support for Vietnam Airlines’ plan to open a direct route to the US in the near future,” Minh said. – VIR
