Vietnam Airlines and Vinataba to be State-owned limited firms

After PetroVietnam, the prime minister has decided to transform two corporations of Vietnam Airlines and Vinataba into one-member limited companies, since the equitisation process cannot be completed by July 1.

According to regulations, state own companies which are in equitisation process and do not have decision on recognition of corporate value from the business competent authorities will be changed to the model of one-member liability limited company and continue on the equitisation process.

Under the same decision, there are Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation – PetroVietnam, Vietnam Airlines Corporation – Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam National Tobacco Corporation – Vinataba. The prime minister has issued decision on transforming PetroVietnam into state owned one-member liability limited company. The same decision has been applied to Vietnam Airlines and Vinataba.

The core business activity of Vietnam airlines is providing air transportation to passengers, luggage, cargos, parcels, and airmails with certified aircraft operation, simultaneously performing outside business investments. The charter capital at 31 December 2009 was 8.492 trillion dong.

Vinataba has two core business lines including investment, production and business activities in Vietnam and overseas; and tobacco growing. In addition, Vinataba also conduct trainings in the fields of growing, processing raw tobacco, cigarette production, food industry, etc. and some other trades. The charter capital at the transforming point time is 1.602 trillion dong.
