Vietnam Airlines aims for 12M passengers in 2010

Vietnam Airlines expects to welcome around 12 million passengers aboard its domestic and international flights this year after the carrier has become a full member of the global airline alliance Skyteam.

Duong Tri Thanh, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines Corp said at a function to mark its Skyteam membership organized in Ho Chi Minh City on July 29.

2010 is an important year for Vietnam Airlines when the airline is expanding fast in terms of network coverage and transport capacity, Thanh was cited by the Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon newspaper as saying.

Vietnam Airlines currently have 68 aircraft and the number of passengers will surpass 11 million and probably reach 12 million this year, from total passenger number of 9.34 million in 2009, Thanh added.

Last year, Vietnam Airlines posted revenues of more than VND24.62 trillion and VND154 billion profit.
