Vietnam Airlines accepts web check-in for international flights

Vietnam Airlines on Monday began to extend online check-in at www.vietnamairlines.com to certain international flights after successfully applying the electronic procedure to domestic services.

The flagship carrier said that passengers can do the web check-in for its international flights departing from Hanoi and HCM City as well as from Vientiane of Laos, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap of Cambodia, Seoul and Busan of Korea, and Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia.

Those passengers with confirmed e-tickets are allowed to complete their check-in procedures and select their seats on the site at least four hours before the departure time. They are required to print the boarding pass on an A4-size paper and re-confirm their status at the airline’s counters at the airport 45 minutes ahead departure time.

The web check-in service is not applicable to the passengers who want to check in their luggage and have requests for special services. This service does not apply to beneficiaries of discount tickets.

In August last year, Vietnam Airlines started to apply the web check-in services to its domestic flights departing from Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City, and Da Nang Airport. The service has proved much convenient for passengers and eased long queues of passengers waiting for their check-in turns at these airports, particularly on peak days.

Trinh Hong Quang, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, said in a statement released on Monday that the web check-in helped passengers save much time at the airport. He added that the airline would apply this service to other routes in the near future. – Saigon Times
