Vietnam agro-forestry and seafood product is estimated to have increased by 57.6% from 2010, the online newspaper Hanoimoi reported on December 27, citing the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).
In detail, rubber export topped the list with an increase of 275%.
Rice export also rose to $200 million worth of 800,000 tons in Jan-Feb .Vietnam’s rice exports is forecast to reach as much as 6.6 million tons this year, the local newspaper Thoi Bao Kinh Te reported on Feb. 17, citing Truong Thanh Phong, chairman of the Vietnam Food Association. The country may produce about 25 million tons of milled rice this year, Phong said.
The export revenue of these staples significantly rose in the first two months of this year due to higher export prices and the recent devaluation of VND.
The export prices of rubber, coffee and cashew sharply increased by 71.25%, 39.5% and 30.5%, respectively.
In domestic market, the domestic coffee prices continued to set a new record high of VND44,000/kg after hitting the highest level in 4 years of VND43,200/kg in Vietnam’s Central Highland provinces. VFA raised the floor prices of exported rice with an average increase of $20/ton to between $490-$520/ton, applying for contracts delivered in February and March. – Stoxplus.com
