Vietnam’s tra catfish export increases 29pct year on year

Till the end of September 2011, Vietnam’s tra catfish export earned $1.31 billion, rising 29% from the same period last year, Vietnam Association for Seafood Processors (Vasep) reported.
Although facing many difficulties on raw materials, the country’s tra catfish export to almost markets still posted two-digit growth year on year.

Particularly, in September, Vietnam’s tra catfish export to Russia gained $5.1 million, higher than $4.7 million in previous month but down 20% from the same period last year, bringing the total export turnover of tra catfish to Russia in Jan-Sep to $43.6 million, a year on year fall of 3%.

Besides, EU still remained Vietnam’s key tra catfish buyer with 30% of the market share. Till the end of September, Vietnam’s tra catfish export to EU increased 6% in value year on year, to reach over $397 million.

To tra catfish product to still make significant contribution to the growth of Vietnam’s seafood market share, seafood exporters still maintained strong growth momentum of remaining markets such as the US, China, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mexico, Asean and Arab Saudi. – Source: Vietbiz24.com
