Vietnam’s largest centre for pharmaceutical research and development
A large pharmaceutical research and development centre worth US$120 million was opened in Tien Son Industrial Zone, Bac Ninh province, in mid-August by the Vietnamese Vien Dong Pharmaceutical Group.
The centre aims to churn out ‘Made in Vietnam’ products for raising the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry to regional levels, said Le Van Dung, Chief Executive Officer of the group.
Leading experts in hi-tech pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry have been invited to work with the centre, he added.
Mr Dung predicted that Vietnam’s pharmaceutical sector will continue to grow in the next 5-10 years but the growth rate is likely to slow down as Vietnamese businesses usually produce products that saturate the market.
He expressed hope that the centre will help Vien Dong group produce innovative products and compete with giant foreign pharmaceutical companies. – VOV
