Vietnam’s exports estimated at $34.75b in Jan-May, GSO reports

Total export of Vietnam during the first 5 months of 2011 will have estimated to reach $34.75 billion, up 32.8% year on year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
Notably, textile and garment export surpassed $5 billion, followed by footwear, seafood and crude oil bringing the export turnover of over $2 billion each in the reporting period.

Three commodities losing in export turnover in Jan-May compared with the same period of 2010 included tea, gemstone, precious metals and products, wire and electrical cable. Vietnam saw a three-digit growth rate in exports of other three items namely coffee, rubber and cassava.

In details, coffee export gained $1.77 billion by the end of May, surging 121.7% year on year, cassava and product export $638 million, +109.4%, and rubber export jumping 113% to $1.052 billion. – Vietbiz24
