Vietnam’s CPI surges 1.09pct in Jun

Vietnam’s CPI (consumer price index) in June surged 1.09% from May and 13.29% over last December, marking the lowest CPI rise during past eight months since October 2010, General Statistics Office (GSO) announced.
In comparison with June 2010, the CPI rise in June 2011 increased 20.82%.

Thus, the country’s CPI in Jan-Jun saw a rise of 16.03% from the same period last year.

The gold price index in June soared 0.36% from May and up 36.33% over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the US dollar price index posted a fall of 0.78% over May and up 9.49% year on year.

10 of 11 groups posted increase in CPI against May except the group of post and telecommunication saw a slight fall of 0.01% on month.

The group of restaurant and catering services saw the strongest rise of 1.79%, of which, foodstuff up 2.47%, restaurant soared 1.16%.

Followings were the group of other goods and services (0.86%) and culture, entertainment and tourism (0.77%). – Vietbiz24
