US$1.1 million allocated to preserving Thang Long Royal citadel
The US$1.1 million project funded by the Japanese Trust Fund, will contribute to preserving the Thang Long Royal citadel and maintaining the nearby community’s development.
The project is of great significance for the capital city of Hanoi as the Royal Citadel will be a central point of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The project “Preservation of the Cultural Heritage Complex of Thang Long-Hanoi†was signed in Hanoi on January 20 by UNESCO and the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, Ngo Thi Thang Hang, emphasised that vestiges lied in the royal citadel area contain invaluable historical and cultural values, showing the development history of the Thang Long Capital City as well as the history of founding and keeping the country.
Mrs Hang also praised UNESCO for mobilizing the funding from the Japanese Government to assist the Co Loa Relic and Thang Long Ancient Citadel Preservation Centre to carry out the project effectively.
