US supports Vietnam’s IT development

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) supports the project to turn Vietnam into a strong information technology (IT) nation and promote the application of e-government.

This was confirmed by representatives from DOC at a reception for Minister of Information and Communication Le Doan Hop during his visit to the US from June 9-14.

The visit aimed to promote Vietnam’s development potential in IT and Communication field, promote bilateral trade in ICT between the two countries, especially in training human resources and creating favourable conditions for IT companies to access the market and seek partners in the US.

At the meeting, both sides highlighted bilateral trade cooperation in IT which has increased remarkably in recent years.

Minister Hop encouraged US businesses to further cooperate and expand investment in Vietnam, affirming that Vietnamese IT businesses are a reliable and potential partner of the US. He asked the DOC to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese companies to do business in the US and support the project to turn Vietnam into a strong IT nation and promote the application of e-government.

At the working session with the WB Vice President Joachim Von Amsberg, Minister Hop thanked the WB for supporting socio-economic development and poverty reduction in Vietnam. WB Vice President also highlighted Vietnam’s efforts in implementing the e-government projects in Vietnam and pledged to support Vietnam’s following projects.

At the working session with Leocadia I. Zak, Director of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Minister Hop spoke highly of the agency’s support to the Ministry of Information and Communication and highlighted the role of USTDA in promoting US investment in Vietnam. He expressed hope that USTDA would create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to cooperate with US businesses in the field of IT to strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries. – VOV
