US NGO gets green light for Cacao-farming project

An American NGO has received approval from authorities in the southern Binh Phuoc Province to begin a two-year, US$398,000 project to grow cacao in three districts.

An American NGO has received approval from authorities in the southern Binh Phuoc Province to begin a two-year, US$398,000 project to grow cacao in three districts.

Roots of Peace (ROP) will supply seeds and other inputs and provide training and technologies for farmers in Bu Dang, Dogn Phu, and Bu Gia Map and guarantee markets for their cacao harvests.

Since coming to Vietnam last year ROP has mainly focused on removing unexploded munitions like landmines and cluster bombs and developing sustainable livelihoods for impoverished rural people affected by the bombs – Tuoitre
