US considers anti-dumping on import of dusted shrimp

If the US International Trade Committee (ITC) finds no material loss or threat of material loss from importing dusted shrimp, it will stop considering anti-dumping and all deposits made will be reimbursed or deferred.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processor (VASEP), the US Department of Commerce (DOC) is revising its initial anti-dumping decision to take dusted shrimp imported from Brazil, China, India, Thailand and Vietnam to anti-dumping investigation.

DOC is asking US customs and border gate agencies to halt payment on consignments of imported dusted shrimp as of September 2, 2010 and deposit money equivalent to the tax levied on these consignments.

The ITC will also investigate whether US shrimp producers would suffer losses from imported dusted shrimp. – VOV
