Trung Nguyen coffee domain name row rumbles on

The latest development sees the owner of trungnguyen.com.au display evidence of its status as the official distributor of Trung Nguyen coffee in Australia.
Dynamic Food Brokers (DFB) is the owner of website trungnguyen.com.au in Australia. Visiting this website, readers can see information about Highlands Coffee products from the Vietnam-based Viet Thai International Company. Last week Trung Nguyen accused Highlands Coffee of stealing its domain name and confirmed that DFB is not Trung Nguyen’s agent in Australia.
However, earlier this week, DFB stated that it was the distributor of Trung Nguyen coffee in Australia and proved it by posting a photo of a certificate in which Trung Nguyen offers thanks for DFB’s cooperation in 2006 as well as information about recent cooperation between the two sides.
According to DFB, since 2003 this company has been one of the two authorized distributors of Trung Nguyen coffee products in Australia.
In 2004, DFB opened website coffee.iinet.com.au and replaced it with the website trungnguyen.com.au two years later. DFB said that it has invested a lot of money in this website and Trung Nguyen only contributed images of its products.
Then, in 2008, the representative office of Trung Nguyen in Singapore informed DFB that it no longer enjoyed price assistance and information about all overseas distributors of Trung Nguyen was deleted from Trung Nguyen’s website.
On September 1 2008, DFB contacted James Ho, manager of Trung Nguyen Singapore office by email to negotiate the transfer of website trungnguyen.com.au at a “reasonable price”. James Ho refused and recommended DFB to contact New World Trading, a new distributor of Trung Nguyen Coffee in Melbourne, Australia.
After negotiations failed, DFG deleted images of Trung Nguyen products to replace them with new information. At the same time, DFB cooperated with Highlands Coffee to market this product in Australia.
Regarding the latest development, Trung Nguyen’s representative told VNExpress that the firm is verifying the certificate that is posted on trungnguyen.com.au and will make a statement later./.
