Troubled Kenmark yet to resume Vietnam operations

Troubled firm Kenmark Industrial Co (M) Bhd says it has yet to resume operations in Vietnam after its premises there were sealed, but notes that most of its employees at local facilities have reported back to work.

The company told Bursa Malaysia yesterday that deputy managing director Goh Kim Chon had withdrawn his resignation letter, and was providing assistance to executive director Ho Soo Woon in the day-to-day management and operation of the company.

The latest update to the exchange on the current state of affair in the company was made with the “collective approval” of directors Datuk Abd Gani Yusof, Ho Soo Woon, Ahmed Azhar Abdullah and Woon Wai En.

However, the group’s Tawainese directors – James Hwang, Chen Wen_ling and Chang Chin-Chuan -”have not responded with any comments on the query,” it said.

“Kenmark is still assessing the state of operations for each business unit and shall provide an update when appropriate,” it said.

It was previously reported that Vietnamese authorities took control of the group’s premises on May 25 after its key management people went missing.

Kenmark migrated its manufacturing operation to Vietnam in May 2009, and in the financial year ended March 31, 2010 the division contributed RM62.65mil in revenue.
