Tra fish exports hit US$ 530 million in six months

In the first half of this year, Vietnam exported around 250,000 tonnes of Tra fish, earning more than US$530 million in revenue.

At a conference held in Can Tho City on July 14, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said that in the reviewed period, the Mekong Delta region raised more than 3,700 ha of Tra fish equivalent to 750,000 tonnes.

However, several delegates pointed out the weaknesses that need to be dealt with in the future such as businesses controlling the market by price gauging, poor technologies and soaring prices of fish food.

The Director of the Department for Agriculture and Rural Development in Dong Thap province, Duong Nghia Quoc underlined the need to strictly control the price of Tra fish to ensure the interests of farmers.
