Toyota unveils price hikes
Toyota Motor Vietnam announced price increases Tuesday following the sharp devaluation of the dong against the US dollar.
The automaker, the country’s biggest with a market share of 27.7 percent last year, said the price hike will take effect March 1 and apply to most of its models.
The highest, of 174 million dong (US$8,350) – or more than 7 percent — will apply to the imported Land Cruiser, which will cost more than 2.6 billion dong.
The Vios Limo will see the smallest hike of 34 million dong after which it will cost 520 million dong.
Other carmakers are expected to follow suit. The Vietnamese central bank last week devalued the dong by 9.3 percent. – Tuoitre
