Three mobile network operators to jointly use prefix code 099

Along with Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT), two other mobile network providers including GTel and Indochina Telecom will also use the prefix code of 099.

This code is considered a golden figure that all operators want to have with a hope that the figure will bring the highest number of subscribers.

According to GTel, the operator for Beeline mobile network, said that it was granted the prefix code of 099 with the strip of 0996. Beeline is building the development plan and expects to launch this mobile phone number strip of 0996xxxxxx to the market within this month. Currently, this operator is developing the prefix code of 0199 with about four million subscribers.

Together with Beeline, the Indochina Telecom, the eighth mobile network provider was granted license to launch telecommunications services without ground-band (virtual network) from August 2009, will also use the prefix code 099.
However, this operator has not revealed the details plans yet.

Previously, when joining the telecommunication market, many mobile network operators such as Viettel, S-Fone, or Vietnamobile also aimed at the prefix code 099.

Currently, Vietnam has seven mobile network providers but the total number of prefix codes being launched to the market reached over 20 units. Of which, VinaPhone is offering prefix codes of 091, 0123, 0125, 0127, and 0129, MobiFone with 090, 0122, 0124, 0126, and 0128, Viettel with 097, 098, 0168, 0164, 0165, 0166, 0167, and 0169, S-Fone with 095, Vietnamobile with 092 and 0188 and EVN Telecom with 096. – Vnexpress
