The Largest Greentech Event

The second international exhibition-fair on energy efficiency-environment technologies (Entech Hanoi 2010) will take place from May 27-30, 2010 in Hanoi.

Vietnam Economic News’ Phuong Lan and Thu Huong spoke with the director of Hanoi Center for Energy Efficiency and Conservation, a member of Entech Hanoi 2010 Organizing Committee, Dao Hong Thai, to shed some light on the event.

This year the showcase carries the theme ‘Energy efficiency and environment, effective business, sustainable development’. This will be a good opportunity for companies to promote cooperation and development in energy efficient technology and environmental protection.

Entech Hanoi 2010 is the second of its kind, so what makes it different from the previous one?

This year the showcase consists of 160-250 booths covering around 15,000sq.m and is expected to attract 150 domestic and foreign businesses active in energy and environmental fields. On display will be energy efficient products and solutions to help businesses slash operational expenses, ameliorate efficiency, and sharpen competitiveness.

The trade fair is new in that there will be more booths providing greater opportunities for businesses to promote products and services. Besides, the event is held coinciding with five-year review of the national energy efficiency program, therefore in the exhibition there will be a separate 136sq.m section showcasing major achievements the country and particularly Hanoi city has recorded in the past five years in implementing the program. A media award in the energy efficiency field will also be given on the occasion.

Entech Hanoi 2009 took place from June 18-21, 2009 and consisted of 160 booths of domestic and foreign companies. Many contracts were signed on the occasion valued at nearly US$4 million.

Besides, unlike last year when the event only attracted local businesses and those coming from the Republic of Korea, this year businesses from different countries such as Spain, Brazil and Denmark will join the event. With such scale expansion, we expect businesses will get more opportunities for cooperation and exchanges.

Local businesses will have a chance to approach latest world technologies through an international event like Entech Hanoi 2010. So what measures has the Organizing Committee taken to help businesses make the most of these opportunities?

Local businesses will receive active support from the Organizing Committee, such as 50 percent of the booth lease fee when they join the exhibition.

Reality shows that many local companies do not know how to use the equipment properly for energy conservation. Besides, energy efficient equipment is generally costly, therefore not many local companies could afford it. Thereby, Entech Hanoi 2010 creates an environment for businesses to exchange experiences and learn each other in energy efficiency and conservation. Businesses will be consulted in selecting the best energy efficient solutions to their cases. The exhibition will encompass a separate business transaction area where the Organizing Committee will respond to enquiries from companies and this is also a rendezvous for businesses to seek advices and sign contracts.

Last year the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade sent staff to the Republic of Korea to attend a showcase for learning experiences. What the people involved had learned in RoK when organizing Entech Hanoi 2010 and did RoK support us in the exhibition?

In 2009, under cooperative minutes between the two countries in hosting Entech, Hanoi sent a mission to RoK to learn their experiences in organizing events. We realized that their booths were uniquely designed to attract people, especially there were community oriented areas. On that basis, we decided to turn the community area into an area to showcase the achievements we have posted in energy efficiency and conservation.

We have maintained good relations with RoK. Last year, they co-sponsored us to organize two events, one on environment and the other on energy. This year, they bring 70 booths in energy field and 30 booths in environmental field to attend Entech Hanoi 2010. This is also a good opportunity for Vietnam to learn Korean experiences as RoK is among countries leading in energy efficient and environmental protection technologies./.
