Thai cement maker raises target

Thai conglomerate Siam Cement Group has set a higher target for its construction materials business in Viet Nam as one of its two strategic markets in the ASEAN region. The other market that the group focuses on is the Philippines.

This year it plans to increase its sales by at least 30 per cent over 2009 to reach US$9.1 million. The turnover is expected to rise to $12.8 million next year, according to Anuvat Chalermchai, brand director for SCG Building Materials.

It established the CPAC Monier Viet Nam company in Binh Duong Province in 2005 to produce concrete roofing products, and the Minh Thai House in 2006 in HCM City to produce plastic windows and doors.
