Thai An hydropower plant joins national grid

Thai An Hydropower Joint Stock Co held the opening ceremony for Thai An hydropower plant in Vi Xuyen Dist, Ha Giang Province, and officially joined the national grid on Sep 26, 2010.

The hydropower plant has two turbines with total designed capacity of 82MW. The construction on this two trillion dong hydropower plant was kicked off in August 2007. After over three years of construction, Thai An power plant has already been granted the operation licence to join the national grid.

This is the second largest hydropower plant to be put into operation in Ha Giang province so far. When in operation, each year the power plant would produce about 400 million KWh to the national grid, bringing in revenue of 300 billion dong, making contribution to state budget of 30 billion dong per year, and creating jobs for hundreds of local workers. – VOV
