Sumitomo Forestry to Build Plank Mill at Phu An Thanh IP

Vina Eco Board of Japan’s Sumitomo Forestry Group on May 20 signed a land leasing contract with Phu An Thanh Co., Ltd to build an artificial plank factory on an area of 20 hectares at Phu An Thanh industrial park in Ben Luc district, southern Long An province.

After three years of investigation, Vina Eco Board Company officially signed the leasing contract and invests US$100 million to build the factory with the annual capacity of 250,000 cubic meters. The plant will be built this June and is scheduled to become operational in November 2011.

Mr. Soichiro Kitamura, Director of Vina Eco Board said: “We select Phu An Thanh IP to set up our factory because of Long An province’s huge material resource of cajuput trees to be used in artificial wood production. We also see a convenient transport system and geographic condition of Phu An Thanh IP and receive a strong support from Long An authorities during the project’s investment process.”
